A regional civil rail contractor is seeking a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on a number of Network Rail projects across London and the SE. This is an opportunity to progress with a growing contractor who offer excellent development opportunities.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management
• Ideally 2 years postgraduate experience
• Understanding of civil engineering / rail projects

Reactive Maintenance

• Taking and interpreting briefs to develop a scope
• Converting fault repair reports and turning these into measured bills which can be priced on NSR and bespoke schedules of rates
• Completing / presenting estimates
• Preparing qualifications / assumptions based on risk
• Recording works on Employer’s live database
• Final measures
• Applications for payment
• Monitoring performance against KPIs
• Finalisation of accounts

Planned Preventative Maintenance Works

• Assist in planning and prioritising
• Converting fault repair reports for works arising and turning these into measured bills which can be priced on NSR and bespoke schedules of rates
• Completing / presenting estimates
• Preparing qualifications / assumptions based on risk
• Recording works on Employer’s live database
• Final measures
• Applications for payment
• Monitoring performance against KPIs

Project Works

• Assist in tendering
• Assist in negotiation of BAFO
• Commercial management of subcontractors
• Measurement, negotiation of final accounts with both Employer and subcontractors
• Submission of EoTs and additional entitlements
• Applications
• Management of KPIs
• Cost / value management and reconciliation
