Join an award-winning multidisciplinary engineering practice that prides itself on its close collaboration with architects to achieve intelligent, innovative buildings.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer on a contracted basis to support the delivery of complex building services projects across a wide variety of sectors and typologies including high-rise, theatres, schools, museums, retrofit and listed, commercial, residential, mixed-use, infrastructure and aviation. The role will involve technical delivery at various RIBA stages, working closely with the Building Services team to ensure coordinated, high-quality outputs. The role will also support the development of low-carbon and energy-efficient strategies, contributing to passive design approaches and sustainable building services solutions aligned with our design-led ethos.
This is a senior-level contract position suited to an engineer with strong project experience who can operate independently, integrate quickly into live projects and contribute to technical delivery from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of UK regulations and standards, confidence in producing coordinated mechanical designs, and the ability to manage deliverables within programme and budget constraints.
At Webb Yates, we believe in working collaboratively and creatively. We value individuals who are technically strong, socially aware and eager to contribute to a supportive, design-led studio culture. In return, we offer a flexible, inclusive working environment with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful design impact.

- Adapt mechanical design solutions to suit complex or specialist building typologies, including heritage, high-rise, cultural and educational projects
- Contribute to low-carbon mechanical design strategies, including system optimisation, energy-efficient plant selection and integration of renewable technologies
- Support passive design principles through collaboration with the wider design team, including early-stage performance input and energy modelling coordination
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, CIBSE guidance, and statutory requirements
- Coordinate closely with electrical engineers, architects and external consultants
- Attend design meetings and site visits as required
