Health Care Assistant – Ward 8A | Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Band 3 HCA to join our team on Ward 8A. This is a great opportunity to join our friendly and hard‑working team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standards of nursing care and support the nursing team.
• Contribute to the management of aggressive and abusive behaviour.
• Carry out cannulation and venepuncture training when required.
• Perform general bed making, clean bed preparedness and operation bed management following Trust policy.
• Clear and maintain clean vacated bed spaces and prepare them for use according to ward/unit protocol.
• Prepare used linen bags for collection by porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
• Safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps in accordance with Trust policy.
• Familiarise yourself with Trust policy and procedures for reporting clinical incidents.
• Attend to the needs of visitors and patients, particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved.
• Care for patients’ property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy.
• Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process.
• Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.

Qualifications

• Experienced HCA, currently working towards or holding NVQ Level 3.
• Enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Passion for providing high standards of nursing care and eagerness to develop further.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team and overcome communication difficulties.
