Business Development Manager – Midlands base – Up to £60,000
Location: Midlands – Hybrid / remote based.
Salary: Up to £60,000.
Additions: Car allowance & commission.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the UK transport sector
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline across key industries (retail, FMCG, manufacturing, etc.)
- Promote full load, part load, and groupage transport services
- Drive growth in UK domestic transport, with added focus on UK‑Ireland freight lanes
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure repeat business
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and contract negotiations
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing strategies
- Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets and KPIs
- Maintain accurate records using CRM systems
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in business development within the UK transport/logistics sector
- Strong knowledge of UK road transport operations
- Experience selling transport solutions (FTL, LTL, groupage)
- Demonstrated ability to win new business and manage key accounts
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Self‑motivated with a results‑driven approach
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with UK‑Ireland transport – desirable
- Knowledge of ferry routes, customs processes, and cross‑border logistics
- Existing network of clients requiring UK‑Ireland freight services
