Senior Data Engineer | Up to £800/day (Inside IR35) | Canary Wharf

Working in a large-scale data environment where the focus is less on building pipelines and more on understanding, shaping, and exposing complex datasets.

Data lands unstructured (Avro, JSON), so the role is centred around analysing data, defining modelling approaches, and translating business needs into usable outputs.

Role

Own data analysis and modelling across messy, multi-source datasets, working closely with both business stakeholders and pipeline teams.

Key focus

• Define ingestion strategies and data models
• Understand lineage and upstream dependencies
• Gather requirements and translate into data solutions
• Work with pipeline teams to deliver
• Use AWS tools (Athena, Glue, Trino) for querying and jobs

Requirements

• Experience with unstructured/semi-structured data
