Responsibilities

To provide strategic leadership and operational management for the Council’s Reablement and Independence services within Adult Social Care. The postholder will ensure high standards of professional practice and expertise across the service portfolio and ensure the Council fulfils its statutory responsibilities.

The role will lead and manage key services, including Occupational Therapy, Equipment Services, Hospital Discharge and Independent Living services, ensuring that residents are supported to live independently and safely within their communities. The postholder will champion excellence in practice, ensure effective hospital discharge pathways, and lead the development and delivery of innovative services that promote independence, prevention and strengths‑based practice.

Working as part of the Adult Social Care Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will drive transformation and continuous improvement across services, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners including the NHS, voluntary sector and other statutory agencies to improve outcomes for residents.

The role will ensure services operate in line with statutory duties, regulatory frameworks and professional standards, including compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other relevant bodies.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months’ service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
