Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Public Health and lead the development, integration and delivery of Bracknell Forest Council’s public health duties across the organisation and the wider health and wellbeing system.
- Provide expert advice to elected members and senior leaders, steering strategy development and delivery.
- Advocate for evidence‑based commissioning within the Council, NHS and wider system.
- Lead the Public Health Intelligence portfolio, ensuring high‑quality data and insights drive local decision‑making.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS).
- Provide strategic leadership for Academic Public Health, strengthening partnerships with universities and research bodies, promoting evaluation, innovation and training, and embedding evidence‑informed practice.
- Take a leading role on the wider determinants of health by working across the council and system partners on housing, planning, transport, employment, environment, climate change and community safety, advocating for a ‘health in all policies’ approach to keep health improvement and inequality reduction central to organisational priorities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Registered with the GMC Full or Specialist Register with a licence to practice, or on the GDC Specialist List, or in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists, or within six months of gaining entry to a register at the date of interview.
- Current residence in the UK; sponsorship eligibility will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
- All successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check.
- Eligible to report to the Director of Public Health and hold dual professional and managerial accountability to Bracknell Forest Council.
