We’re looking for a Data Scientist to take ownership of and develop our statistical modelling capabilities. You’ll work closely with our operations team to forecast orders and optimize how to efficiently meet customer demand in our factory, and partner with our trading team to identify causal relationships between our proposition and customer satisfaction, generating actionable insights to improve how we best meet each customer’s needs.
The role
As a key member of the data team at Tails.com, you’ll drive the full data‑science lifecycle—from curating data to operationalising models—working collaboratively with teams across data, engineering, operations, and trading.
Your Responsibilities
- Operations & Finance – Order & Revenue forecasting
- Take ownership of our existing order and revenue forecasting capabilities, ensuring efficient demand fulfilment at the factory.
- Trading – Customer Lifetime Value
- Partner with the trading team to identify key drivers of customer lifetime value.
- Generate actionable insights through segmentation, predictive modelling and causal analysis, making recommendations to align with customer expectations.
- Trading & CRM – churn prediction
- Own existing churn prediction models, assessing performance and identifying optimisation opportunities.
- Guide segmentation of churn predicting across customer types and cohorts, collaborating with stakeholders to improve retention.
- Ongoing model monitoring
- Collaborate with analytics engineering to develop a monitoring suite that tracks model health, quickly identifying and correcting anomalies.
The skills you’ll bring
- 2‑4+ years in a data‑science role with proven deployment of advanced statistical models into production.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with extensive experience using core data‑science libraries (pandas/polars, scikit‑learn).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster) for operationalising data‑science products.
- Strong communication skills—able to translate technical insights into clear business recommendations.
- Effective time‑management skills, prioritising and delivering impactful work collaboratively.
- Data visualisation and storytelling skills (ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau).
- Experience influencing cross‑functional teams (Product, R&D, Engineering).Optional: subscription business experience.
- Desirable: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM field.
- Desirable: Experience leveraging Snowflake AI/ML and building scalable data pipelines.
