Overview
Flexible working arrangements are supported, including term‑time and part‑time hours (minimum three days per week), compressed patterns and flexible start and finish times. Due to the sensitive nature of the role, remote, hybrid or home working is not available.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer you will shape the future of our products, platforms and technical capability, exploring emerging technologies, prototyping rapidly and evolving solutions into secure, compliant, production‑ready systems. You will work within the Essential Technology team, contributing to organisational modernisation and tackling challenging engineering problems. Your day‑to‑day work will involve cloud‑native architectures, Docker and Kubernetes container platforms, hyperscale Amazon Web Services, the Model Context Protocol and modern generative AI models. You will build platforms that analyse complex data at scale, create compliance services, or develop internal tools that improve developer experience, all designed to be secure by default, resilient, observable and durable. You will lead and mentor through tasking, run stand‑ups, coordinate sprints, break down work and support junior engineers while collaborating with senior stakeholders on feasibility, constraints and trade‑offs.
