Technical Solutions Architect – 2 year contract
Lead the Architecture team within IT Services of Kent Police and Essex Police, ensuring all IT solutions meet national policing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee architecture of new systems, aligning with business goals, industry best practices, and security protocols.
- Collaborate with development teams, suppliers, product owners, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Stay current with technology trends, provide technical guidance, designs, and mentorship to team members.
- Lead a team of designers, providing guidance, leadership, and management.
- Peer‑review design documents and chair the Force Technical Design Authority (TDA).
- Represent Kent Police and Essex Police at regional and national Police TDA meetings.
- Participate in the Department Management Team (DMT) and support on‑call rota for critical incidents.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical architecture with strong understanding of various technologies and platforms, including a record of producing high‑level and low‑level system designs.
- Knowledge of baseline security principles, functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Degree level education and an appropriate IT professional qualification; extensive knowledge of policing and business operating environments.
- Experience in solution delivery: design, procurement, delivery, and post‑support.
- Deep passion for technology, including emerging information & communication technologies.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, able to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Managerial skills: ability to motivate, inspire, give constructive feedback, and foster a constructive culture.
- Security clearance and vetting required.

Contract Type: Secondment / fixed‑term (2‑year)
Hours: Full time, Mon‑Fri, no weekend/evening work.
