Overview
Locum Adults Social Worker – £32ph. Cornwall Council | Countywide | Initial 3-Month Contract. Cornwall Council is launching a new countywide response team and is looking for experienced Locum Adults Social Workers to join this service. The team will respond to adult social care referrals across Cornwall, completing assessments and putting care and support plans in place where required. Work will be allocated geographically across the county to support manageable travel.
Responsibilities
- Respond to referrals and complete statutory assessments within set timeframes.
- Work autonomously, manage deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- There is more remote working than typical locum roles; however you must be able to travel across Cornwall to complete visits when required.
- Care Act Assessments
- Care & Support Planning
- Mental Capacity Assessments and related work
- Responding to new adult social care referrals
- Completing assessments within required timeframes
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Adults Social Care experience
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act
- Experience completing Mental Capacity Assessments
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Access to a car and ability to travel for visits across Cornwall
Contract Details
- Rate: £32 per hour
- Start Date: 1 April 2026 (earlier start may be considered)
- Duration: Initial 3 months
- Hours: Full-time (job share considered)
- Working Pattern: Flexible / hybrid with visits required
