We’re looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer (Power BI)

This is a pivotal role shaping how data becomes insight across our organisation.

Our data tells the story of everything we do – from child development outcomes and family support services to social impact, pedagogy research, organisational performance and nursery operations. Your role will be to transform this diverse landscape into clear, trusted intelligence that supports better decisions across LEYF.

You’ll modernise our reporting environment, transitioning Excel-based reporting into robust, scalable Power BI solutions, while establishing strong analytics foundations that enable teams to confidently access and use data.

What you’ll be doing

Designing powerful analytics solutions

  • Design, develop and optimise Power BI reports, dashboards and data models
  • Build robust DAX measures and datasets that support organisational insight
  • Create reporting that drives meaningful decision-making across the organisation
  • Present insights clearly and tell the story behind the data
  • Modernising our reporting environment

  • Review existing Excel-based reporting and transition it into scalable BI solutions
  • Simplify and rationalise legacy reports and data structures
  • Build reusable metrics and certified datasets to establish a single source of truth
  • Championing analytics best practice

  • Promote dimensional modelling and star schema design across reporting
  • Establish clear naming conventions, logic and documentation standards
  • Lead strong data mapping practices to ensure consistent definitions across systems
  • Maintain high standards for data governance, quality and security
  • Enabling self-service analytics

  • Build datasets and reporting frameworks that empower teams to explore data independently
  • Support colleagues across the organisation to access and understand trusted insights
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytics solutions
  • Supporting the future of our data platform

  • Contribute to our longer-term move towards Microsoft Fabric
  • Support exploratory analytics projects and proof-of-concepts
  • Help shape the future direction of BI and analytics at LEYF
  • Coaching and collaborating

  • Share analytics best practice with colleagues across teams
  • Mentor junior colleagues and support the growth of analytics capability
  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders across the organisation to uplift BI maturity

    Has the right experience and skills

  • Strong experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets
  • Deep understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques
  • Experience building and optimising DAX measures and data models
  • Ability to modernise legacy reporting and transition Excel processes into BI solutions
  • Experience translating stakeholder requirements into effective analytics solutions
  • Strong understanding of data governance, quality and documentation practices
  • Brings the behaviours that make this role shine
