Job Description:We’re looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer (Power BI)
This is a pivotal role shaping how data becomes insight across our organisation.
Our data tells the story of everything we do – from child development outcomes and family support services to social impact, pedagogy research, organisational performance and nursery operations. Your role will be to transform this diverse landscape into clear, trusted intelligence that supports better decisions across LEYF.
You’ll modernise our reporting environment, transitioning Excel-based reporting into robust, scalable Power BI solutions, while establishing strong analytics foundations that enable teams to confidently access and use data.

What you’ll be doing
Designing powerful analytics solutions
Design, develop and optimise Power BI reports, dashboards and data modelsBuild robust DAX measures and datasets that support organisational insightCreate reporting that drives meaningful decision-making across the organisationPresent insights clearly and tell the story behind the dataModernising our reporting environment
Review existing Excel-based reporting and transition it into scalable BI solutionsSimplify and rationalise legacy reports and data structuresBuild reusable metrics and certified datasets to establish a single source of truthChampioning analytics best practice
Promote dimensional modelling and star schema design across reportingEstablish clear naming conventions, logic and documentation standardsLead strong data mapping practices to ensure consistent definitions across systemsMaintain high standards for data governance, quality and securityEnabling self-service analytics
Build datasets and reporting frameworks that empower teams to explore data independentlySupport colleagues across the organisation to access and understand trusted insightsCollaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytics solutionsSupporting the future of our data platform
Contribute to our longer-term move towards Microsoft FabricSupport exploratory analytics projects and proof-of-conceptsHelp shape the future direction of BI and analytics at LEYFCoaching and collaborating

Has the right experience and skills
Strong experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards and datasetsDeep understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling techniquesExperience building and optimising DAX measures and data modelsAbility to modernise legacy reporting and transition Excel processes into BI solutionsExperience translating stakeholder requirements into effective analytics solutionsStrong understanding of data governance, quality and documentation practicesBrings the behaviours that make this role shine
