The role
We’re looking for a skilled writer who lives in Yorkshire and has experience of writing SEO optimised content for websites. They like to be in the know of what’s happening in the food, drink and events scene in Yorkshire. They can write in an engaging way to hook readers’ interest, inform and write as if they’re talking to a friend. Able to write long-form content (e.g. guides/news/features) and short-form content (e.g. for YFG’s e-newsletter and app push notifications, restaurant, event and product pages). They’ll also feel confident travelling across the region to client shoots, feel comfortable eating and presenting on camera/providing voiceovers for social videos.

Day to day tasks
- Keeping up to date with trending topics, news stories, new openings and upcoming events.
- Researching and writing search engine optimised digital guides/news, features etc.
- Keyword research to inform content plan.
- Monitor and maintain YFG’s search rankings.
- Coming up with content ideas that will fit across the website/socials/email.
- Writing content for client campaigns e.g. features/reviews.
- Creating and sending email newsletters, workflows and competition sign-ups.
- Creating and sending YFG app push notifications.
- Adding content to the website and ensuring it’s up to date – restaurant profile pages, event listings, product listings etc.
- Attending shoots to feature in social videos.
- Helping to curate food and drink events and gather sponsorship
- Opportunity to attend events for new openings/menu launches and more.
Experience required
- Ideally, a journalism graduate
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a copywriting or content writing role.
- Use of WordPress websites
- Keyword research knowledge
- SEO knowledge
- Use of Google Search Console
- Use of Google Analytics
- Use of email marketing e.g. Mailchimp or similar
- Must have a valid driving licence and be willing to drive across the region to shoots
Location
- Leeds city centre office
- 4 days in office, one day working from home – following a successful probation period
