Job Title: Coded Welder

Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced Coded Welders to support works on a major synchronous condenser project in South Wales. This is a critical energy infrastructure project focused on strengthening grid stability, requiring high standards of workmanship and strict adherence to quality and safety procedures.
The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out high-quality welding activities in line with project specifications, codes, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding activities in accordance with approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
- Work with materials including carbon steel and stainless steel (depending on scope)
- Carry out welding processes such as TIG, MMA, and/or FCAW as required
- Read and interpret isometric drawings, weld maps, and technical specifications
- Ensure all welds meet project quality standards and inspection requirements (NDT readiness)
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities and consumables
- Adhere to all site HSE procedures and permit-to-work systems
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Support installation teams where required during mechanical erection phases
Requirements
- Valid coding certificates (e.g. ISO 9606 / ASME IX) relevant to required welding processes
- Proven experience working on power generation, energy, or large-scale industrial projects
- Experience on pipework, structural steel, or pressure systems
- Ability to pass site-specific weld tests if required
- Strong understanding of health & safety standards on construction sites
- CSCS card (or equivalent)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous experience on synchronous condenser, CCGT, or substation projects
- Experience working under strict QA/QC and inspection regimes
- Confined space or additional site certifications
Working Conditions
- Site-based role in Cilfynydd
- Standard working week with potential for overtime depending on project phase
- Working within a multidisciplinary construction and commissioning team
