Interim HR Business Partner | 11-Month Maternity Cover | North & Midlands | Up to £65k + Car Allowance
Are you an agile, “hands-on” HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment where you can truly partner with senior leaders to drive performance and change?
We are partnering with a leading, PE-backed market leader in the construction supply and hire sector to find a dynamic Interim HR Business Partner. This is an 11-month maternity cover starting in early June 2026, offering the chance to be a key player in a business undergoing a significant and exciting transformation.
The Opportunity
Supporting a workforce of approximately 1,600 people across two major divisions. You will be the “front-end” representative for HR across the Northwest and Northeast regions. This isn’t a desk-based HR role. It’s designed for a visible, relationship-driven HRBP who thrives on being out in the business to build trust, credibility and influence face-to-face across stakeholders at all levels.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Strategic HR Partner to Senior Leaders – Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to leadership teams, shaping the people agenda, challenging thinking and aligning HR strategy to business growth and performance.
- Driving Performance: Shifting the culture toward individual accountability by owning the monthly performance review cycle and coaching managers to hold their teams to account.
- Training & Delivery: You’ll be delivering impactful workshops on coaching models, D&I, recruitment, and performance management.
- Strategic Projects: You will take the lead on a critical Organisational Development (OD) project focused on reducing turnover, using data and insight to drive engagement.
- Change Catalyst: Supporting the rollout of a refined three-year people plan and assisting leaders with OD business cases and structural changes.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner within a fast-paced, multi-site, blue-collar, customer-facing environment.
- Agility: You should be comfortable with less hierarchy and fewer “corporate templates,” possessing the ability to design and deliver your own solutions.
- Confidence: A natural communicator who can influence MDs and Regional Directors while remaining approachable to front-line staff.
- Logistics: Ideally you will be based near the M6 or M1 corridors (Stafford, Manchester, Chester, Derby, or Sheffield) and be happy to travel 2–3 days per week across the North.
- Availability: Ready to start by early June with no more than a one-month notice period.
The Package
- Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum.
- Benefits: Car allowance and single private healthcare.
