Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Tender & Project Controlling Specialist (Senior Project Controller). You’ll be responsible for business partnering to Project Management in all financial and commercial matters and actively drive the project’s performance. Can be assigned to one or multiple smaller projects. Ensure financial performance for the project by preparing financial analyses, ensuring cost controls, providing recommendations for financial decisions, and serving as the main finance representative for the assigned project(s).

Work with different expertise within the financial areas to optimize the project performance with consciousness of the remaining risks. Collaborate with other functions to proactively reach effective business decisions.

Ideally you will be based or be local to one of our office sites in Birmingham or Glasgow but will be a remote‑based role, with an expectation to travel to sites in the UK.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Compliance: Supports the Project Manager in adherence to corporate governance, integrity, assurance, internal control, group charter, business‑specific finance directives and instructions.
  • Project execution: Provides input to the Project Execution Plan on financial aspects and updates the Project Cost & Finance Management Plan. Prepares project invoices, financial accounting and reporting (including project‑site accounting). Drives and seeks optimization of Project Cash‑Flow, Revenues and GM contribution together with the Project Manager. Oversees currency risk, bonds, guarantees and tax issues. Handles variation orders, prepares finance inputs to line reporting, assesses petty‑cash accounts and payments, and follows up on scope. Is responsible for the correctness of the project balance sheet and income statement as well as for cash‑flow and monthly/quarterly forecast.
  • Monitoring and review: Participates in opportunity and risk identification, and monitors that all required mitigation actions are timely implemented. Holds joint responsibility with the Project Manager for all financial aspects of the project, including estimate‑at‑completion, related cost‑to‑complete, forecasted revenues and cash‑flow, risk and opportunity assessment, and ensures alignment with other functions such as Project Controls, planning/scheduling. Supports the Project Manager in coordinating and preparing monthly project reviews, participates in preparing the project cost report, verifies the substance for cost‑to‑complete, creates input for customer reports, and prepares and supports external and internal audits.
  • Commercial terms: Provides support on claim management, back‑charges and insurance cases, and monitors the proper follow‑up together with the Contract Manager/Project Manager upstream (towards the customer), side‑stream (towards consortia partner), and downstream (towards suppliers).

Your Background

  • Relevant industry experience in a similar or equivalent industry with project and/or tender controlling background; financial knowledge with a financial degree.
  • Skills: critical thinking, professionalism and strong ethics.
  • Experience: 5 years or more in a similar role.
