This role reports directly into the Financial Crime Compliance Policy & Advice Manager and will support in providing appropriate expertise to all areas of the business as a key point of reference, including advising on Anti‑Money Laundering / Counter Terrorist Financing; Financial Sanctions; Tax Evasion and Anti Bribery & Corruption; supporting the development of the Bank’s financial crime framework including the Bank’s financial crime policies, minimum standards, risk assessment methodologies, and training.
Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate financial crime expertise to the business as a key point of reference on escalations, referrals, exits, exceptions and downgrades waivers and complex cases, providing timely responses to impacted business areas
- Support the production of horizon scanning for legislative and industry changes;
- Support the management of financial sanctions escalations making recommendations to the MLRO when these arise in respect of any suspected breaches and reporting obligations;
- Support with the Management of methodologies associated with the Bank’s Customer Risk Rating Model (CRRM), Country Risk Rating Model and Business Wide Risk Assessment
- Support the Financial Crime Operational Teams within the first line of defence (UKXO) with implementation of instructions in line with the Banks polices and standards
- Support and communicate with the Financial Crime Operational Teams within the first line of defence (UKXO), regional compliance departments and other business areas in development of robust and effective systems & controls, instructions and guidance and frameworks that are compliant with our regulatory obligations will meeting their objectives to build and maintain a business with high levels of operational rigour.
- Support the oversight and assurance function in line with the bank’s risk control framework, with reviews related to Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Financial Sanctions, Bribery & Corruption and Tax Evasion to identify material risks where improvement activity is required
- Support the enhancement of financial crime policies and standards;
- Advise on Anti Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing implications of new products, services or channels;
- Support the planning and delivery of thematic financial crime focussed assurance reviews of operational business areas;
- Support the development of Financial Crime related training to ensure everyone’s regulatory requirements are met.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of appropriate legislation, regulations and guidance published by the UK, EU and other regulatory bodies
- Support the preparation of Financial Crime reports for management and group reporting,
- Support and provide oversight of the Financial Crime related projects where required, to assure that delivery meets all objectives in accordance with regulatory expectations
Ideal Candidate
- Experience of working within a second line of defence financial crime compliance role setting would be an advantage
- Qualification in Anti‑Money Laundering, Financial Crime and/or Governance, Risk and Compliance would be advantageous e.g. ICA Advanced Certificate or Diploma in FC/AML, ACAMs.
- An excellent understanding of and ability to demonstrate knowledge of anti‑money laundering, counter terrorist financing and financial sanctions policies and procedures specifically within the retail banking sector, including the related legal and regulatory framework and industry best practise
- Knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with bribery & corruption and tax evasion.
- An understanding of current and future proposed regulatory requirements/expectations.
- Professional standard of presentation skills
