We are seeking to appoint an energetic, skilled and caring professional to liaise with pupils, parents and school staff to both identify and address attendance issues. Our attendance officer is expected to monitor attendance daily; complete ‘first response’ by contacting parents about unexplained absences; be able to both support and challenge where poor attendance is identified; have a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities; and liaise with professionals. The candidate must be able to make home-visits. Importantly, our attendance officer must aspire to good attendance for all pupils and take a proactive approach, using data to identify potential issues and, through early intervention, work with families to resolve issues and remove barriers BEFORE attendance becomes a source of concern.
