Hours: 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (4.30pm finish on a Friday)
Senior Digital Product Designer Mission:
To elevate the digital experience across our diverse portfolio of seven iconic brands. This is a strategic and hands‑on role spanning the full product design lifecycle, from discovery and UX strategy through to visual design, prototyping, and delivery.
This role blends product thinking, user experience, interface design, and experimentation to create intuitive, commercially effective, and brand‑consistent journeys across web and mobile platforms.
You will work from discovery through delivery and optimisation, partnering with Product, Engineering, Trading, Marketing, and Creative teams to define problems, design solutions, validate ideas, and continuously improve the customer experience. You will also use emerging AI tools responsibly to enhance design quality, speed, and insight generation.
How you’ll drive success:
User Experience Leadership
- Champion user‑centred design across all digital touchpoints
- Conduct user research, journey mapping, and usability testing to inform design decisions
- Translate insights into wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that optimise engagement and conversion
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align UX with business goals
- Own the end‑to‑end visual and interactive design of digital products, ensuring consistency, creativity, and brand adherence while pushing design innovation.
- Design high‑fidelity mock‑ups, modular UI components, and scalable design systems, leveraging AI‑powered tools for efficiency, generating variations, and enhancing creative output (e.g., in Figma, Adobe XD, and other emerging platforms). Define and apply brand‑specific colour palettes, typography, iconography, and motion design
- Ensure accessibility and responsiveness across devices and platforms
Strategic Collaboration
- Act as a key contributor to the Digital Product team’s strategy and roadmap
- Support and unify the digital presence of all 7 Pentland Brands, adapting design to each brand’s identity
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams – including Trading, Marketing, Creative, Product Management and Engineering – to understand their goals and ensure their perspectives are reflected in design decisions
- Communicate design rationale clearly to non‑design stakeholders, fostering alignment and shared understanding
- Balance user needs with commercial objectives, delivering measurable impact
- Mentor other designers and promote design best practices across teams
Product Thinking & Delivery
- Own design end‑to‑end across the product lifecycle – from problem framing and discovery through to shipped features and iterative improvement
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap by bringing a design‑led perspective to prioritisation and feature definition
- Define and track design quality metrics and success indicators, ensuring design decisions are tied to measurable outcomes
AI & Emerging Tools
- Actively incorporate AI design tools (such as Figma AI, Adobe Firefly, and generative prototyping tools) into day‑to‑day workflows to accelerate ideation and production
- Design and evaluate AI‑powered product features (e.g., personalisation, recommendations, conversational interfaces) with a clear understanding of their UX implications and limitations
- Stay current with developments in AI‑assisted design and advocate for responsible, human‑centred application of these technologies within the team
- Use AI tools to support and scale user research synthesis, content exploration, and design documentation
What you’ll need to thrive:
- 6–8+ years of experience in digital product design, spanning UX, UI, and end‑to‑end product thinking, preferably in consumer‑facing digital products or ecommerce
- Ability to use research, analytics, and experimentation to improve user and business outcomes
- Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems at scale
- Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles
- Confidence working closely with product managers and engineers in agile cross‑functional teams
- Expertise in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and prototyping platforms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and consensus across diverse teams
- Passion for brand storytelling and crafting delightful user experiences
- Practical experience using AI tools in a design workflow — whether for ideation, research synthesis, content generation, or rapid prototyping — and a curiosity to keep evolving your practice as the tooling changes
- Ability to think beyond individual screens – connecting design decisions to product goals, business outcomes, and the broader customer journey
Alongside a competitive salary and discretionary bonus, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, flexibility, and life outside work. This includes generous employer‑financed company pension scheme, flexible working hours, bike leasing, EGym, Employee discount on all Pentland Brands & Comprehensive group accident insurance.
