Portsmouth Broad Oak/Naval Base or Cowes, hybrid – 2/3 days weekly onsite
Salary
Up to £68,000 dependent on experience + bonus scheme
What You’ll Be Doing
This role leads the development and application of effective Project Control strategies, managing a team of specialists to deliver accurate progress and performance insight. It requires extensive project knowledge, good cross‑functional collaboration, and deep expertise in Project Control methodologies, governance frameworks, and stakeholder engagement. You will be accountable for embedding tailored Project Control practices, supervising a team of up to ten, ensuring consistent quality across all outputs, providing technical guidance, driving best practice sharing, and supporting performance management through coaching, oversight, and good governance application.
Core Duties
- You will have extensive Project Control expertise, demonstrated through successful delivery in complex business or project environments.
- You will hold a deep understanding of project operations and wider business context, enabling informed decision‑making and effective integration.
- You will have ample knowledge of PM governance and assurance, including application of recognised frameworks and assessment processes.
- You can lead medium to high complexity projects or work packages, managing teams of up to ten while applying good problem‑solving skills to design, implement, and optimise effective solutions.
- You will be skilled in identifying, tailoring, and embedding best practice, driving continuous improvement across teams and disciplines.
- Degree‑level education or equivalent professional qualifications, supported by a recognised Project Management certification or substantial practical experience.
- Day to day people management duties for their team e.g. time and attendance admin.
- Responsible for holding regular performance conversations and supporting team members with their development planning.
- Provide support to strategic workforce planning, succession planning and talent conversations across the sector.
- Coaching/mentoring new or inexperienced team members and supporting the onboarding of new starters.
- Contributing to reward outcomes / pay decisions.
