CroBio is an innovative biotechnology company developing next-generation microbial soil amendments that improve drought resilience, nutrient efficiency, and soil health. Based at Alderley Park, we’re seeking a motivated Lab Technician to join our growing scientific team.
Role Overview
As a Lab Technician at CroBio, you will play a key role in supporting our R&D efforts by maintaining a well-organised and efficient laboratory environment. You will assist with media preparation, routine microbiological and molecular biology procedures, and general lab maintenance tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an applied research setting and grow within a fast-moving biotech startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare growth media, buffers, and reagents.
- Support experiments in microbiology and molecular biology.
- Assist with maintaining microbial cultures and plant growth experiments.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures following standard operating protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure lab equipment is kept clean and functional.
- Contribute to general lab organisation and stock management.
Requirements
- BSc in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field (MSc a plus).
- Strong practical lab skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of microbiological and molecular biology techniques.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to start immediately.
- Must be within a commutable distance to Alderley Park and hold a valid UK driving licence.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Experience working with plants and soil is desirable but not essential.
- Skills in bioinformatics and programming are a bonus but not essential.
