Transformation Project Manager

As a Transformation Project Manager, you will work at the heart of the organisation, aligned to one of our four Trust divisions, partnering with clinicians, managers and corporate teams to deliver high‑impact change.

  • Driving delivery of the Divisional Cost Improvement Programme, working closely with Finance and operational leaders
  • Identifying and delivering innovative improvement projects that improve quality, safety, productivity, and patient experience
  • Embedding continuous improvement capability, helping teams build the skills and confidence to improve how care is delivered every day

You’ll work across hospital and community settings, with exposure to senior clinical leaders and executives, and the opportunity to influence decisions that genuinely matter.

What you’ll be doing

In this fast‑paced and varied role, you will:

  • Spot opportunities for improvement using data, benchmarking and best practice
  • Turn ideas into deliverable projects with clear plans, risks, benefits and governance
  • Work alongside clinical and operational teams to map pathways, test change and deliver sustainable results
  • Facilitate workshops, pathway mapping sessions and improvement events

Education and qualifications

  • Educated to post‑graduate level or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Programme / Project Management or Improvement Qualification or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience

  • Evidence of specialist knowledge and expertise and experience in successfully contributing towards, and/or delivering change projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge & experience of supporting change within a complex service environment
  • Evidence of building effective working relationships with clinical, operational, and multi‑disciplinary teams
  • In depth knowledge of the national and local health context
  • Understanding of current issues and challenges within health care delivery
  • Understanding of quality improvement/safety improvement/process improvement/ clinical governance principles and their application
  • Experience of working collaboratively across functions and organisational boundaries
  • Successful track record of working and delivering in complex environments
  • Experience of delivering successful change initiatives
  • NHS operational experience or general awareness
  • Experience of teaching

Skills, abilities and attributes

  • Demonstrate the ability to handle technical, complex, sensitive or contentious information and present this to a variety of audiences where significant barriers to acceptance may exist
  • Demonstrate ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate a way forward involving both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage workload effectively in light of competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage complex programmes of work
  • Ability to analyse complex information, develop and analyse potential options and provide recommendations on the most appropriate course of action
  • Ability to analyse national and local policy, identify implications for the Trust and develop Trust policy and objectives to reflect this
  • IT skills including advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Well‑developed communication and negotiation skills to handle difficult situations in a constructive and positive way
  • Effective presentational skills including presentation to senior leaders and public meetings
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Be able to communicate at senior management level both internally and externally
  • Critical appraisal skills
  • Development of evaluations / audit protocols
  • Ability to develop education programmes
