Mechanical Project Engineer

A leading global construction and consultancy firm, renowned for delivering some of the most complex and high-profile projects across sectors including healthcare, life sciences, infrastructure, and commercial, is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer.
This role will take the lead on the mechanical package for a state-of-the-art commercial project in the City of London, with an M&E value of £55M. Currently in pre-construction, the position will see the project through to completion in 2030.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of the mechanical scope, working closely with internal teams and coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of installations and services.
- Oversee all mechanical interfaces across packages and workstreams, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with project specifications.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including the client, design teams, and site teams.
- Identify risks within the mechanical scope and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
- Support the project’s sustainability and carbon reduction objectives through effective management of energy use, materials, and methodologies.
Package & Benefits:
- Basic salary: £90,000 – £110,000
- £7,000 car allowance

Requirements:
- Strong mechanical engineering background, with a thorough understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC, pipework, and public health services.
- Proven ability to manage mechanical systems through design, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Experience managing complex mechanical packages on major building services projects.
- Proficiency in construction planning, scheduling, and delivering work packages from pre-construction through to completion.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety practices, including HVAC safety, working at height, fire safety, and site logistics.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and commissioning protocols, including pressure testing, flushing, balancing, and BMS integration.
- Relevant qualifications such as BTEC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- CSCS Card and SMSTS certification.
