Head of Distribution – Commercial Insurance
Overview
We are partnering with a high-growth, Tech enabled, commercial insurance MGA, scaling rapidly with strong backing and increasing broker demand. The business is now looking to appoint a Head of Distribution to build and deepen broker relationships, drive a data-led go-to-market strategy and accelerate both new business and account expansion.
The Role
• Own distribution strategy across broker channels, driving new business and expanding existing relationships
• Build and deepen partnerships with retail and wholesale brokers across key regions
• Lead a small team across sales and underwriting, aligning commercial activity with underwriting appetite
• Develop and execute a data-driven GTM strategy across segmentation, targeting and broker coverage
• Drive pipeline generation, conversion and account growth across core segments
• Implement structured approaches to land and expand within key broker accounts
• Partner closely with underwriting, pricing and analytics to ensure alignment between distribution and risk selection
• Track performance through clear KPIs, pipeline management and broker-level insights
Profile
• Proven experience building and scaling broker distribution within an MGA, carrier or specialty insurer
• Strong network across US retail and wholesale brokers
• Experience driving both new business and account expansion strategies
• Ability to lead hybrid teams across sales and underwriting functions
• Comfortable using data to inform GTM strategy, broker segmentation and performance management
• Commercially driven with a strong understanding of underwriting dynamics
Qualifications
• 10–15+ years experience in commercial insurance distribution
• Background within MGA, carrier or specialty insurance platforms
• Experience in high-growth or PE/VC-backed environments preferred
• Strong understanding of US commercial insurance market dynamics
• US-based with flexibility to travel
