The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor (5–7 PQE) to join the highly regarded Employment team at a leading independent commercial law firm based in the heart of Manchester.
The firm is well known for advising entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, corporates and high-net-worth individuals, providing commercially focused legal services across a full range of practice areas. Its Employment team is recognised in Legal 500 for delivering pragmatic, strategic advice across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
Due to continued growth and success, the firm is looking to recruit an experienced employment lawyer to join its expanding and well-respected team.
Key Responsibilities
You will work on a varied and high-quality caseload including:
- Employment Tribunal litigation (including whistleblowing, discrimination and unfair dismissal claims)
- Senior executive appointments and exits
- Restrictive covenants and confidential information disputes
- Restructures, redundancies and TUPE matters
- Settlement agreements and advisory work for HR teams and senior leadership
- Urgent injunction applications
You will also have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development, supported by a dedicated marketing team.
The Team & Culture
You will be joining a collaborative and supportive employment team led by an experienced Head of Department, working alongside recognised employment specialists within a firm that values teamwork, approachability and high-quality client service.
The firm also has access to a trusted international legal network, allowing it to support clients on cross-border employment matters when required.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–7 years’ PQE in employment law
- Experience managing your own employment caseload across contentious and non-contentious matters
- Strong drafting and advisory skills
- Employment Tribunal experience (advocacy experience advantageous but not essential)
- Confidence supervising junior colleagues and delegating effectively
- Strong commercial awareness and an interest in developing client relationships
