Project Manager – Rail Systems
A leading engineering organisation within the rail sector is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale rail systems projects from planning through to successful completion.
This role sits within a specialist projects function and is responsible for managing complex, multi-stakeholder engineering programmes in a highly regulated environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of major rail systems projects
- Define scope, objectives, deliverables, and delivery plans
- Manage budgets, resources, and commercial performance
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
- Maintain client relationships across key project interfaces
- Track progress, manage risk, and control change
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership
- Ensure HSEQ compliance and robust risk management practices
Requirements
- Degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
- Proven experience delivering technical projects at system level
- Strong background in rail or similarly regulated engineering sectors
- Experience managing commercial and contractual aspects of projects
- Knowledge of project management frameworks (PRINCE2 or APM preferred)
- Strong understanding of planning tools, risk, and change control
- Demonstrated leadership of teams and stakeholders
