The Role

• A leading UK engineering consultancy is hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their Birmingham office
• They will deliver mechanical building services designs across a range of complex projects
• The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and team development

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver mechanical designs across varied project scales
• Act as the main client point of contact, building strong, long‑term relationships
• Take ownership of project briefs, ensuring quality, profitability, and timely delivery
• Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and manage internal resources
• Monitor project budgets and report on cost and resourcing
• Support bids and promote the consultancy’s full service offering
• Mentor engineers and support team development

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer within consultancy
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
• Experience working in multi‑disciplinary environments
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant design tools
• Solid understanding of British Standards and UK regulations
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
