Title – Employment Solicitor

The law firm

Ortus Group are working with a growing commercial law firm to attract a high quality and ambitious employment solicitor. This firm is highly rated in both Chambers and The Legal 500 directories of leading UK law firms and provide advice across the UK and internationally.

The Employment Team has previously been recommended by Legal 500 and is part of the wider Commercial Services Department which also comprises the practice groups of Corporate and Commercial.

The Department’s culture is a very supportive one and there is an emphasis on a high level of professionalism and encouragement of members of the department to work independently, develop their potential and raise the firm’s profile.

The Employment Team

The Employment Team currently comprises of four Partners, one Senior Associate, three Associates, one trainee and one Legal PA.

The team provide advice to UK and international clients including corporate entities, partnerships and individuals.

The successful candidate will need good knowledge and experience of contentious and non-contentious matters, covering all areas of employment law including the termination of employment, grievance/disciplinary issues, discrimination, employment status and employment/consultancy agreements, directors’ service agreements, restrictive covenants and issuing and defending claims in the Employment Tribunal. Corporate support and associated advisory work will be required on transactional matters.

The candidate will actively assist in developing the practice by working mainly on their own files, and with others on larger cases, transactions and matters. In accordance with the general practice of the firm, the candidate will have significant responsibility and client contact and will enjoy the support and encouragement of other members of the team at all levels.

• Confident user of Microsoft Office products and other common software/applications.

• Minimum of six months’ post-qualification experience
