Job Description:

Manufacturing Systems Project Manager – Glasgow

12‑Month Contract | Inside IR35 | £550–£700 per day

Glasgow based | Hybrid (approx. 2 days onsite per week)

An opportunity to play a lead role in the greenfield build of a world‑class manufacturing facility that will become the global blueprint for future operations.

This contract role will sit at the heart of a major manufacturing transformation programme, responsible for delivering the core manufacturing systems landscape under a tight timeframe while ensuring scalability for future smart‑manufacturing capabilities.

The Role

You will lead the delivery of ERP, MES and PLM systems for a newly established manufacturing site, working in parallel with physical site build activity. The focus is on what is critical for day‑one operations, not over‑engineering — with architecture designed to evolve over time.

The ERP platform is fixed (Infor), and the programme is currently partnered with a leading global consultancy, moving into vendor selection and multi‑vendor delivery. You will act as the central point between partners, vendors, internal technical teams and global stakeholders.

This is a hands‑on manufacturing systems delivery role, not a pure IT PM position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of manufacturing systems across ERP, MES and PLM
  • Lead vendor selection, engagement and multi‑vendor delivery
  • Partner closely with systems integrators and consulting teams
  • Coordinate global delivery teams across the UK, India and Middle East
  • Drive delivery under aggressive timelines, prioritising MVP for go‑live
  • Manage risk, dependencies and complex system integration
  • Lead and support significant change management in a manufacturing environment
  • Act as a pragmatic counterbalance to “gold‑plated” solutions

About You

  • Proven experience delivering manufacturing systems (ERP / MES / PLM)
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environments
  • Experience with greenfield sites or major plant start‑ups highly desirable
  • Comfortable working within fixed ERP guardrails
  • Strong vendor and integrator management experience
  • Confident operating in global, offshore delivery models
  • Pragmatic, delivery‑focused, and comfortable challenging partners and stakeholders

Contract Details

  • Duration: 12 months
  • IR35: Inside IR35
  • Rate: £550–£700 per day (dependent on experience)
  • Location: Glasgow based, hybrid working with approx. 2 days per week onsite

This role would suit an experienced Manufacturing Systems Project Manager who thrives in high‑pressure, build‑from‑scratch environments and wants to leave a long‑term legacy rather than deliver incremental change.
