Role Overview

We are seeking a Production Engineer to support engineering activities in the development, build, and testing of complex CT X‑ray inspection systems. This is a highly hands‑on role, requiring strong mechanical assembly and prototyping skills, and close collaboration with Engineering and Test teams.

You will play a key role in the construction of engineering prototypes, upgrades to test systems, and the smooth operation of the product test environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering activities related to the development and testing of CT X‑ray inspection machines
  • Provide hands‑on input to the mechanical construction and design of prototype systems
  • Lead the assembly of prototype CT test machines
  • Execute mechanical and hardware modifications to support equipment upgrades
  • Assist Engineering and Test teams with the execution of product testing activities
  • Support the operational running of the product test environment, including:
  • Space planning and layout
  • Moving and arranging heavy equipment
  • Test equipment storage and organisation
  • Planning and provision of key services such as power supplies and communication lines

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in shopfloor product assembly within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Qualification such as BTEC, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Excellent practical skills in mechanical assembly, modification, and prototyping
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive, self‑motivated approach
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge or experience working with high‑voltage systems
  • Forklift licence/training
