We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Overhead Lines (OHL) to join a growing team delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.
You’ll play a key role in high-profile energy projects including HV overhead lines (up to 400kV), substations, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage systems—contributing directly to the energy transition.
What You’ll Be Doing
✔ Leading FEED & detailed design for OHL projects
✔ Managing HV/EHV OHL design (11kV–400kV)
✔ Delivering complex design solutions including line routing & transitions
✔ Ensuring compliance with UK HSE, CDM & industry standards
✔ Working closely with multidisciplinary teams & stakeholders
✔ Supporting team growth and improving design processes
What We’re Looking For
10+ years’ experience in OHL design (132kV–400kV)
Strong knowledge of UK transmission & distribution standards (National Grid/DNO)
Degree qualified (or equivalent experience – HNC/HND considered)
Chartered or working towards (IET preferred)
Proficiency in tools like PLS-CADD
Strong leadership & stakeholder management skills
