The Role

This role sits at the centre of our next phase of growth, shaping the business banking propositions we bring to market and the way we attract, onboard and support customers in a responsible, sustainable way.
You’ll play a pivotal role in defining who we serve across the SME and business banking landscape, creating propositions that genuinely solve real‑world challenges for businesses from getting started to scaling confidently. You’ll lead the acquisition activity that brings these propositions to life at scale, balancing commercial performance with long‑term customer value, trust and regulatory responsibility.
With a strong commercial mindset and a deep sense of care for our customers, you’ll ensure everything we build delivers clear, measurable value for businesses supporting their growth, resilience and success while also driving sustainable outcomes for the bank.

Key Responsibilities
Proposition & Growth (B2B Focus)
- Shape and deliver differentiated business banking propositions that create real customer value and sustainable, profitable growth.
- Own and prioritise the B2B proposition roadmap, aligned to commercial goals, regulatory expectations and target business segments.
- Work collaboratively across the bank to refine pricing, value exchange, eligibility and feature sets for business customers.
- Lead proposition design, testing and optimisation, with clear success measures focused on adoption, engagement and lifetime value.
- Make informed recommendations on when business products or services should evolve or be retired based on performance and customer need.
Customer Acquisition
- Lead a multi‑channel B2B acquisition strategy across key business banking products and propositions.
- Define funnel strategy, KPIs, media mix and optimisation plans suited to business decision‑makers, founders and finance leads.
- Oversee targeting, messaging and creative testing to drive efficient, responsible business growth.
- Ensure acquisition activity aligns to customer lifetime value, portfolio returns and Zempler’s risk appetite.
Customer Insight & Targeting
- Define Zempler’s target business segments and Ideal Customer Profiles across SME and business banking.
- Turn insight into practical, actionable segmentation and targeting strategies that reflect different business needs and stages of growth.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to exceed business onboarding, activation, conversion and value targets.
Performance & Commercial Management
- Own acquisition performance reporting, including CAC, conversion, revenue and cohort value for business customers.
- Partner with Finance and Decision Science to model ROI, portfolio performance and proposition viability.
- Identify and remove friction across business acquisition and onboarding journeys, including documentation, verification and account setup.
- Drive continuous optimisation across channels, journeys and messaging to improve business customer outcomes.
Brand & Customer Advocacy
- Own and evolve the Zempler brand for business banking, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment to our purpose and values.
- Shape brand expression across all business customer touchpoints, from digital journeys to marketing assets and communications.
- Embed Consumer Duty / Customer Duty principles and a customer‑first mindset across business propositions and journeys.
Governance & Leadership
- Partner closely with Risk and Compliance to ensure all B2B activity meets UK regulatory standards and internal governance expectations.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing team across proposition, acquisition and customer insight, with a strong understanding of business customers.
- Act as a senior leader at Zempler, role‑modelling collaboration and sponsoring cross‑bank initiatives that strengthen business customer understanding and competitiveness.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Proven leadership in B2B proposition development, customer acquisition or product marketing, ideally in financial services, fintech or regulated markets.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability with a track record of driving profitable business growth.
- Deep understanding of B2B segmentation, targeting and value proposition design.
- Hands‑on experience optimising business acquisition funnels, onboarding journeys or lifecycle programmes.
- Skilled in navigating cross‑functional environments and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex insights into simple, compelling business customer stories and propositions.
