Description

This is a high-impact business partnering role with responsibility for end-to-end commercial finance support across assigned client account(s). You’ll lead management reporting, forecasting, performance improvement planning, and commercial analysis—while working closely with operations, client leadership, and legal to support contract negotiations and renewals.

You’ll also play a key role in embedding consistent processes, improving financial understanding across operational teams, and ensuring strong governance and adherence to group-wide controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly internal reporting for client account(s): volume, profitability, savings, working capital/cash, KPIs, risks/opportunities, trends/variances, reconciliations
  • Build and drive profit improvement plans with the business
  • Own annual account planning + forecasting; deliver monthly performance vs forecast and reforecasts
  • Support contracts: pricing/commercial terms, renewals/amendments, financial analysis, partner with legal
  • Produce client-facing financial reporting: spend profile, working capital, KPIs, risks/opportunities, trends/variances
  • Present performance in client review meetings
  • Escalation point for credit control issues and client resolution
  • Ensure operational systems are used correctly and reconcile to finance (sales, orders, COGS, working capital)
  • Enforce group processes and authority limits across account teams
  • Strategic finance partner to Client Managing Director(s) and teams
  • Translate financial data into operational insights; improve financial understanding and decision-making
  • Contribute to wider finance team and business financial control

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Fully qualified accountant (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial, commercial, or accounting roles.
  • Ideally experienced in the retail sector and/or an outsourcing environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of Sage plus advanced Excel and data manipulation capability.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional presence, with confidence presenting to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.
  • Honest, accountable, and self-driven; comfortable working under time pressure.
  • Energetic, partner-oriented, customer-focused, and proactive in identifying improvements and innovative solutions.
