Socode are partnering with a well-established engineering consultancy delivering complex product development programmes across multiple industries. As their project portfolio continues to grow, they're looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to strengthen their capability across electronics and mechanical product delivery.
This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on bridging R&D and manufacturing. You'll play a key role in ensuring products move efficiently from prototype through to scalable production, while building and developing a high‑performing team.
What will you be doing?
- Providing design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) input across engineering projects
- Supporting the transition of complex electronic and mechanical products into production
- Managing and coordinating external supply chain partners and contract manufacturers
- Driving improvements in manufacturing processes, tools, and best practices
- Supporting bids and proposals with manufacturing insight
- Working closely with project managers and technical teams to deliver programmes
- Assessing supplier performance and resolving quality or delivery issues
- Leading and developing a small team of engineers and technical specialists
What are they looking for?
- Strong experience in manufacturing engineering within an electronics or RF‑led environment
- Background working across the full product development lifecycle
- Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes (e.g. SMT, PCB assemblies)
- Experience managing suppliers and contract manufacturers
- Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, client‑facing environment
- Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
Nice to have
- Experience working with RF or high‑complexity electronic systems
- Exposure to low‑to‑mid volume production environments
- Background in consultancy or customer‑facing engineering roles
- Knowledge of regulated industries or advanced manufacturing sectors
