We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead several high performing telematics technology teams as we continue to scale our global platforms. This is a critical leadership role with significant influence across our connected camera and fleet tracking products.

Reporting to our Telematics CTO, your responsibilities will include engineering strategy, platform health, DevOps maturity, architecture evolution, and people leadership. You’ll also play a key role in consolidating and integrating acquired businesses to support our long‑term growth and reduce cost to serve. This is an office based role at our state‑of‑the‑art Telematics head office in Arden Square, Crewe. Key Responsibilities

  • Leading multiple technical teams, taking overall accountability for the effectiveness and well‑being of team members.
  • Support the assessment, definition and roll‑out of development practices/processes aligned with industry best practice, ensuring their adherence in order to deliver efficient change.
  • Proactively ensure the health of the platforms, identifying and addressing technical debt.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators, ensuring team delivery excellence and addressing any issues effectively.
  • Leading the DevOps strategy for telematics and implementing infrastructure automation to deliver faster, more efficient, scalable platforms.
  • Working with the Telematics CTO to understand and contribute to the vision and strategy for the telematics division and align your teams and activities to this vision.
  • Working with Product to understand customer needs on specific features and ensuring development teams are delivering to these needs aligned to the defined roadmap and strategy.
  • Implementing and maintaining financial governance measures.
  • Working with Architects to define, improve and evolve the architecture of the group systems.
  • Assisting Development Managers and our Talent Acquisition team in recruiting and retaining the best talent.
  • Engaging with suppliers, outsourced partners and other vendors to maintain relationships, enhance our product offering and improve our ability to execute.
  • Alongside Delivery Management and Product, measuring and managing capacity and building roadmaps to deliver maximum value for customers with this capacity.

What We’re Looking For

  • A proven track record in building and leading innovative, high‑performing engineering teams.
  • Experience managing large development teams, leveraging agile development methodologies.
  • Experience managing highly distributed organisations and working with multiple cultures.
  • Experience managing 3rd‑party suppliers, including offshore.
  • A degree in a technical field, ideally computer science or software engineering.
  • A solid technical background with experience of one or more of our core stack – Java, Typescript, NodeJS – and modern web UI frameworks.
  • Significant experience building and managing SaaS platforms at scale on containerised cloud platforms, preferably AWS, leveraging CI/CD and DevOps practices to deliver quality with pace.
  • Experience with a product‑centric approach to delivery.
  • Experience with cybersecurity and data privacy and ability to implement security measures to protect software and data.
  • Strong architectural awareness, with experience of large‑scale refactoring and architectural transformation.
  • A deep understanding and belief in best practice and its importance for delivering good products that last.
  • A positive, servant‑leader mindset, leading teams as a coach and someone who asks the right questions to challenge.
