Site Manager – Civil Engineering & Commercial Groundworks

A well-established civil engineering and commercial groundworks contractor based in Birmingham is looking to appoint 1–2 experienced Site Managers to support the delivery of several ongoing and upcoming projects across the West Midlands.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong reputation in commercial groundworks and infrastructure delivery, working on a variety of schemes including industrial, commercial, logistics and infrastructure developments.
The roles are offered on a long-term day rate basis, providing stability and continuity of work across a strong pipeline of projects.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of groundworks and civil engineering packages on commercial and infrastructure developments.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager and wider project teams, you will coordinate site operations, manage subcontractors and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and quality standards.
Typical project scope will include:
Bulk earthworks and site preparation
Drainage and attenuation systems
Foundations and reinforced concrete works
Hardstanding and external works
Roads, service yards and infrastructure
Utilities coordination and installation
Key Responsibilities
Managing daily site operations across groundworks and civils packages
Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and plant to ensure programme delivery
Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
Monitoring quality standards and site workmanship
Ensuring works progress in line with programme milestones and deadlines
Liaising with clients, consultants, engineers and senior management teams
Managing RAMS, site documentation and HSEQ compliance
Driving productivity and maintaining strong site organisation
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidates will have a strong background in civil engineering or commercial groundworks delivery.
Essential experience includes:
Proven experience working as a Site Manager within civil engineering or groundworks
Experience delivering commercial groundworks packages such as industrial units, logistics parks or infrastructure works
Strong understanding of site sequencing, programme delivery and subcontractor coordination
Ability to manage multiple trades and site teams effectively
Confident communication skills when dealing with clients, engineers and project teams
Required qualifications:
SMSTS
CSCS Card
First Aid (preferred)
Strong knowledge of groundworks and infrastructure delivery
