I’m currently supporting a leading fund management organisation with a major presence across the renewable energy sector. Their portfolio spans wind, solar, biomass, hydrogen, and battery storage, and they continue to expand their impact as one of the most active investors in the UK and European clean energy markets.
We’re hiring across multiple positions within their Development & Delivery team – the group responsible for bringing projects from early-stage concept through construction and into operation. These roles offer the chance to work on pioneering low‑carbon infrastructure that directly contributes to the energy transition.
Location: North West England (site-based)
Type: 18+ Month Contract
Are you passionate about driving the UK’s transition to low‑carbon energy? This is a unique opportunity to join a forward‑thinking owner-side team delivering cutting‑edge green hydrogen production projects across the North West.
We are looking for a Site Manager to act as the client’s on-site representative, overseeing EPC contractors, civil partners and suppliers, and ensuring safe, timely, high-quality delivery. You will play a key role within a multidisciplinary team managing multiple renewable energy projects, helping shape the future of sustainable power in the UK.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the principal on-site representative for the Owner, ensuring all works adhere to contractual, commercial and organisational standards.
- Oversee EPC, civil and specialist contractors to ensure project milestones and site objectives are achieved.
- Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring all contractors comply with HSEQ legislation and site rules.
- Monitor progress against programme and budget, flagging risks, delays or opportunities to senior management.
- Lead and document regular site progress meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and closed out.
- Maintain accurate site records, including progress updates, inspections, incidents and change logs.
- Act as the main on-site interface with the Owner’s Engineer, consultants, utility providers, authorities and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate site utilities, logistics and owner-procured items to ensure efficient delivery.
- Support commissioning, testing, snagging and final handover to ensure the asset is ready for operational use.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 6 years of site management experience, ideally within process plants such as hydrogen, biomass, waste to energy or similar.
- Hydrogen experience is highly desirable but not essential; experience in process plant or high pressure environments is required.
- Strong safety mindset with understanding of hazops, high-pressure systems and safety procedures.
- Background in mechanical, electrical or controls engineering is preferred; civil engineering background considered only with exceptional relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently, take decisions and elevate when necessary.
- Structured, organised and disciplined with accurate record keeping and site diary management.
- Strong knowledge of site operations, construction activities and contractor management.
- Ability to monitor and report progress against construction programmes and milestones.
- Excellent communication skills with contractors, consultants, clients and internal teams.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to work on site.
- Client-side or owner’s representative experience.
- Knowledge of renewable technologies: hydrogen production, solar, wind or battery storage.
- Understanding of utility connections, grid interfaces and statutory approvals in the UK.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and pragmatic decision‑making abilities.
- Good IT proficiency across Microsoft Office and project reporting tools.
Why Join?
This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, making a real contribution to the UK’s green transition. You will be part of a knowledgeable, mission‑driven team working on innovative hydrogen projects that will shape the future of sustainable energy.
If you’re ready to make an impact and lead on the delivery of next‑generation clean energy infrastructure, we’d love to speak with you.
