Overview
Commercial Investment Manager to drive long-term value creation across Calisen’s meter asset portfolio. This senior, investment-focused commercial role is responsible for identifying, evaluating and delivering investment opportunities across both existing customer relationships and new growth propositions. You will lead the development of robust investment cases, shape portfolio strategy and support key investment decisions, helping to grow Calisen’s market share within the MAP and adjacent metering markets. You’ll work collaboratively across Commercial, Finance, Operations, Legal and Corporate Affairs, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders and Investment Committees.
Responsibilities
- Investment & portfolio value growth: Identify and evaluate opportunities to enhance the value and performance of Calisen’s existing meter asset portfolio. Work closely with the Associate Commercial Director and wider commercial team to shape portfolio strategy and prioritise investment opportunities.
- Investment case development & governance: Produce high-quality investment cases, financial models, forecasts and business plans, underpinned by robust data, pricing models and sensitivity analysis. Author and review governance papers and present recommendations to Board and Investment Committees to secure approval for investment and growth.
- Commercial growth opportunities: Assess and develop new investment-backed growth opportunities to expand Calisen’s presence within the MAP and wider metering market. Support the commercial structuring, pricing and evaluation of new propositions.
- Customer & partner engagement: Work with the wider commercial team to manage and develop key relationships with energy suppliers and metering equipment manufacturers. Ensure investments align with customer requirements and operational capability, with support from the MAP Operations team.
- Contract & risk management: Oversee the commercial elements of customer and supplier contracts, working closely with Legal and Operations to ensure contractual terms reflect agreed investment and operational requirements.
- Industry & regulatory insight: Monitor industry developments and regulatory change, working with Corporate Affairs to identify risks and opportunities. Support the development of commercial investment responses to mitigate risk and capture value.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in senior commercial or investment-focused roles, with demonstrable experience driving portfolio value or business profitability
- Strong capability in financial and investment analysis, including building or reviewing financial models and investment cases
- Experience working with complex commercial and contractual structures
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and presenting recommendations in formal governance forums
- Experience within the energy or metering sector is highly desirable, but we welcome applications from candidates in similarly complex, asset-backed or regulated environments.
