A technically minded Software Developer, who wants to continue learning, with an interest in functional programming and distributed systems.

Within our Core Systems team, all systems and services are housed on a Linux operating system and primarily built around open source technologies. To process the volume of transactions on a daily basis, we need a language that can scale at speed. You will work with Golang and/or Erlang, exploring and learning new technologies.

The day to day work is interesting, challenging and fast paced within a hardworking, delivery focussed company ethos. We hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to tackle some of technology’s greatest challenges.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred skills and experience

• Exposure to functional programming (Erlang or Go)
• Experience of distributed systems
• Ability to problem solve
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Strong academic background, ideally with a BSc/MSc IT related degree or relevant industry experience

Main Responsibilities

• Develop low latency, highly available and scalable solutions
• Work on Linux and GNU utilities
• Work in an environment with high volumes of transactions
• Support and enhance the existing code base
• Identify technical areas of improvement
• Contribute to solution proposals as required
• Create work effort estimates
