About the role
We are seeking a Senior HVAC Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of nuclear‑classified HVAC systems on the Sizewell C project. You will provide specialist technical expertise within the SZC MEH Alliance Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT), supporting the successful replication and delivery of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) HVAC bulk scope.
Location: Bristol (Aztec West) – 2–3 days per week.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing technical leadership and expert advice across the classified HVAC scope to the wider MDT.
- Preparing technical procurement specifications for HVAC ductwork, supports and ancillaries.
- Reviewing execution design outputs to support manufacturing and installation readiness.
- Assessing HPC technical queries and site changes for applicability to Sizewell C.
- Managing design configuration across HPC as‑designed, HPC as‑built and SZC as‑designed states.
- Ensuring all execution design information issued to suppliers and installers aligns with design intent.
- Working closely with Responsible Designers, Contract Engineering Leads, Delivery Managers and Project Managers.
- Supporting resolution of design, manufacturing and site TQs/NCRs.
- Providing constructability input into design studies and engineering reviews.
- Leading the assessment and implementation of design changes within the MEH Alliance scope.
- Driving continuous improvement by applying lessons learned from HPC and industry best practice.
- Supporting business cases through the SZC change control process.
Who we’re looking for
- Strong experience in nuclear‑classified HVAC engineering and design.
- Prior involvement with Hinkley Point C HVAC scope is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting HVAC installation activities on site.
- In‑depth knowledge of industry codes, standards and regulations for HVAC ductwork and supports.
- Proven ability to produce technical specifications for design and fabrication.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and designing for fabrication.
- Experience on large‑scale EPC projects, from concept through to commissioning.
- Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional institute, or working toward Engineering Council registration.
- Strong ability to review and challenge engineering drawings for accuracy and compliance.
- Working knowledge of Navisworks (or similar), Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015, CDM Regulations 2015, configuration and change management.
