About The Role
Senior Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Inchinnan, Glasgow
Employment type: Permanent
To provide engineering design solutions and through‑life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering design input to new systems and products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries.
- Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, supply chain and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
- Create part numbers and bills of materials and source suitable components and materials when required.
- Produce engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports, and check detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and on budget, adhering to engineering and company standards and processes (compliance to internal and external standards and regulations).
- Serve as the discipline technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the JFD engineering team.
- Promote engagement to achieve a resilient, diverse, high‑performing team.
- Line‑manage a small team on performance, development, allocation/delegation of work and compliance to internal and external standards and regulations; mentor through competence framework, training, development plans and performance appraisals.

Skills & Experience
- Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
- Experience generating design calculations.
- Programming with Structured Text (ST) and other IEC 61131‑3 languages in the CODESYS platform.
- Competence with engineering design software tools / CAD packages.
- Knowledge of design standards and IEC 61508 applicable to programmable systems in critical applications.
- Previous product design experience, particularly with DC systems, is advantageous.
- Experience selecting cables, connectors and penetrators.
- Design and commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems with associated calculations.
- Design of power distribution systems.
- Specification, selection and management of traction battery systems up to 150 kWh.
- Good knowledge of electrical systems design for EMC compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in an electrical engineer or product engineer role.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems for generating and storing engineering packages.
- Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Familiarity with marine/defence standards and Classification Society rules (LR, DNV, DEFSTAN etc.).
Location & Travel
This role is based in Inchinnan, Glasgow; some travel may be required as projects dictate.
