Your role
As a Lead Systems Engineer, your mission is to apply Systems Engineering for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Operationally, the role will span from concept to customer commissioning and field trials, through the application of best‑practice systems engineering working to ensure on‑time delivery, within budget and to specification.
You will report to the Systems Engineering Manager.
- Work at the core of our engineering and product development teams using Systems Engineering tools and methods to bring clarity from ambiguity.
- Translate our product vision into clear and concise Requirements using Systems Engineering process such as Use Cases, Context Diagrams, Architectures and more.
- Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods to develop Functional, Logical, and Behavioural architectures to understand the operations and flow of the System.
- Work collaboratively with and effectively influence all our engineering teams to clarify work packages, manage trade‑off studies, and resolve engineering issues.
- Lead and coach a growing core team of Systems Engineers of all levels of expertise to continue their development towards being a Lead SE themselves.
- Contribute to the Systems Engineering process development and ethos and its integration into the wider company, educating other employees in Systems Engineering to resolve technical challenges.
- Have the ability to collaborate across multiple cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
- Systems Engineering Degree Bachelors (minimum essential), Masters (desirable), or demonstrable equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards (desirable)
- Associated Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) qualified (desirable)
- More than 5 years’ experience of practical application of best-practice Systems Engineering in a relatable engineering industry (essential).
- Experience and understanding of working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry such as the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry incl. product safety and compliance to applicable standards (desirable)
- Must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels (essential)
- Able to take ownership and control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not be direct reports (essential)
- High level of integrity and accountability with a results-driven mindset, able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver (essential)

Job Location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on‑site in Bristol, United Kingdom (GB).
