Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Asset Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
Location: Remote working with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites and offices, typically two days per week. A full valid UK driving licence is essential for the role with no more than 6 points.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday
We embrace a flexible working model, with hybrid setup typically requiring an average of 2 days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical supervision and line management of a team of Project Technicians
- Technically manage and coordinate the design and safe delivery of engineered ICA projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio
- Ensure that the delivery of all projects complies with the requirements of the CDM regulations undertaking the role of Principal Contractor and supporting the Client & Principal Designer
- Ensure adherence to YW Engineering specification and associated documentation
- Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with the YW safety Policy
- Ensure that robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation of all business decisions
What skills & qualifications you will need
- Instrumentation Control & Automation (ICA) based apprenticeship or Engineering degree or equivalent
- ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical Control & Automation
- Understands the principles of control of works – Permits, POWRA, RAMS etc
- Understands the major processes and the effects/role of ICA equipment in this
- Broad experience with electrical, ICA, mechanical and process equipment and the ability to produce engineered solutions to resolve business risks and other issues
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of the CDM regulations and their practical application
- Good understanding of the design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision
- Able to respond to a wide range of specific technical and non-technical detailed queries
- Understands and has experience of working to ATEX standards
You will also benefit from having
- Experience working in a regulated utility or major asset management/delivery with a wide-ranging asset base
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment
- SMSTS trained
- Knowledge of equipment within the water industry – including high pressure/temperature waste processing facilities, chemical systems, gas processing and High voltage equipment
