Purchasing Manager

Are you a Purchasing Manager with experience in a fast‑paced telecommunications or product‑led manufacturing environment, and confident using Sage?
We’re working with a well‑established business in Northampton looking for someone to take ownership of site purchasing, driving supplier performance, cost reduction and material availability.
This is a hands‑on role with real ownership and visibility across the business.
How will you make a difference?
- Lead and implement purchasing strategies aligned to business goals
- Source telecoms components, electronics, fibre and plastics globally
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, quality and delivery
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and commercial terms
- Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement
- Ensure material availability while optimising stock levels
- Support forecasting and demand planning with internal teams
- Oversee purchase orders and ensure compliance
- Manage supplier risk and contingency planning
- Support new product development and engineering change activity
- Lead stock control and coordinate stock takes
- Provide reporting and input into budgeting
What do we want to know about you?
- Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager or senior procurement role
- Background in telecommunications, electronics or similar environment
- Experience sourcing from UK, Europe and the Far East
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Proficiency in Sage (essential) and ERP systems
- Commercially aware with a focus on cost and performance
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
