Business Teacher

William Morris Sixth Form – an over‑subscribed, vibrant, inner‑city learning community with the individual student at the heart of everything it does – is seeking a motivated and dynamic Business Teacher to join a popular and successful department.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to the planning, high‑quality teaching, review and evaluation of the Business course.
• Teaching across the academic and vocational curriculum and across all levels of work, working with the Curriculum Area Leader to ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning to meet students’ needs.
• Working both within appropriate teams and independently to plan, develop, review and evaluate the curriculum.
• Using student‑centred teaching and learning strategies in order to develop students’ independent learning skills and promoting the use of flexible learning facilities, including Google Classroom.
• Regularly assessing student progress, maintaining clear and accessible records of student attendance, punctuality and achievement.
• Maintaining a safe working environment during teaching sessions and ensuring that classrooms are well cared for, with displays well presented and regularly updated.
• Actively working on your own self‑evaluation and professional development, including taking part in both internal and external training.

Skills and Experience

• Qualified teacher status, evidence of further professional training and appropriate academic qualifications.
• Successful experience as a classroom practitioner on a range of courses.
• A thorough knowledge of the 16–19 curriculum, with recent experience teaching 16–19‑year‑olds highly desirable.
• An understanding of the teaching and learning strategies appropriate to the 16–19 age range across the curriculum.
• The ability to ensure high‑quality teaching and to promote independent learning.
• The ability to be innovative in curriculum planning.
• An understanding of the role and importance of assessment in recording achievements in students’ learning.
• A commitment to the student‑centred ethos of William Morris Sixth Form.
• A collaborative approach to work and good interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary: £38,538 – £56,788 (Sixth Form College Teachers’ Pay Scale, inclusive of Inner London Weighting).
