Principal Officer (Pollution and General) (Community Environmental Health Team)

Salary: £45,091 - £48,226 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

Situated in the south-west Midlands, Worcestershire is a place of rolling hills and beautiful countryside with a range of towns that combine industrial and rural heritage, and at its heart the medieval city of Worcester with its iconic cathedral and riverside setting. It is only an hour by train from the bustle of Birmingham.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of around eight officers across all areas of environmental health work and steer the service’s statutory nuisance activities.

Manage team day‑to‑day operational issues, supervise investigative work, oversee tasking allocation and planning, and drive investigative activities to completion.

Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including businesses, regional specialist groups, and community partners, maintaining professional relationships and enforcing the Primary Authority provisions.

Qualifications & Experience

A relevant qualification in environmental health is essential. Demonstrated experience in statutory nuisance work, handling larger investigations, and supervisory management is desirable.
