Are you ready to take the lead in keeping retail running smoothly?
As our Resource Planning Lead, you’ll be at the heart of the Retail network – turning forecasts into action and making sure the right people are in the right place at the right time. You’ll drive mid‑ and short‑term labour planning, keeping daily operations aligned, agile and on track. This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two days are the same. You’ll work closely with Retail teams and agency partners, solve real‑time challenges, and help shape smarter planning through insight, reporting and continuous improvement.
Perfect for someone who enjoys being close to the operation and is ready to step up their leadership capability while making a visible impact. You will be joining our team in Stafford and working for our customer Screwfix.
This is a full time, permanent position, where you’ll be working Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00, 37.5 hours per week. Some flexibility is required; this is logistics after all! Please note there will be a requirement at times to travel between our Retail sites across the network.
Pay, benefits and more:
You’ll be paid a salary of up to £35,000 per annum and receive 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). You’ll have access to a company pension scheme, extensive wellbeing programmes and initiatives, and our GXO University which provides you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with. Plus, many other perks such as a variety of high‑street discounts, a cycle‑to‑work scheme and our continued focus on internal promotions, over 60% last year!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead and facilitate weekly mid‑term and short‑term planning discussions to align forecasted pick‑out volumes with available labour resources
- Participate in daily ASH (Absence/Sick/Holiday) reviews to ensure labour is deployed effectively across departments
- Respond to real‑time operational changes by reallocating labour to meet fluctuating pick‑out and workload demands
- Lead and support the on‑site resource planning team, providing guidance, prioritisation, and clear direction
- Liaise with agency partners to secure shift coverage, manage headcount, and support recruitment alignment
- Maintain accurate workforce data, including agency headcount, Kronos inputs, temp‑to‑perm tracking, and shift splits
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience leading and coordinating a team within a fast‑paced operational environment
- Strong background in workforce planning, labour coordination, or resource management within logistics, distribution, or manufacturing
- High attention to detail with strong organisational and time‑management skills
- Confidence working with workforce management systems such as Kronos and Excel to maintain data accuracy and produce reports
- Experience working with agency labour models, including scheduling, headcount control, and recruitment alignment
