The Opportunity

We are seeking a methodical and proactive Project Manager to lead cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, and consultants. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels at bridging the gap between complex technical delivery and stakeholder management. You will have full ownership of the project lifecycle, ensuring high-pressure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Delivery: Lead the entire project lifecycle from initial tender support through to execution and post-delivery support.
  • Project Planning: Create and maintain detailed project plans using Microsoft Project (or similar tools).
  • Financial & Risk Oversight: Monitor project budgets, implement rigorous change control, and maintain proactive risk management processes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish strong relationships with internal colleagues and external customers; translate technical progress into clear, actionable reports.
  • Team Leadership: Manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers and developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of proven Project Management experience.
  • Methodologies: Proficient in both Waterfall and Agile environments.
  • Communication: Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem Solving: A systematic and methodical approach to problem-solving and documentation.
  • Drive: Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision while under pressure.
  • Mobility: Flexibility to travel within the UK as required by project needs.

Qualifications & “Nice to Haves”

  • Certification: Prince2 Practitioner, APMP, or PMP (Highly Preferred).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC) is a significant advantage.
  • Sector Knowledge: Prior experience within Public Transport or Local Government sectors is a plus.
  • Software: Advanced competency in Microsoft Project.
