ABAP Software Engineer – Role Overview
We’re looking for an ABAP Software Engineer to join our dynamic Shared Services team at Severn Trent, which underpins the technical foundations of our SAP landscape and plays a pivotal role in major transformation programmes, including the migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA and the transition to the new Kraken customer platform.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll develop and maintain SAP applications using ABAP, creating a wide range of RICEF objects such as reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows. You will design and build ALV reports, Smart Forms, SAP Script, Adobe Forms, and Module Pool programs, and work with data dictionary objects like tables, views, and structures. You will develop and support various system interfaces including IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and proxies. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with SAP functional consultants to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions, implement system enhancements using user exits, BADIs, and the enhancement framework, support testing phases, deployment activities, and provide post‑go‑live assistance to ensure smooth system operation.
Requirements
- Experience with object‑oriented ABAP programming
- Good understanding of SAP functional modules
- Knowledge of data migration and integration tools
- Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA
- Experience in debugging and performance tuning
- Good problem‑solving and analytical skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with CDS Views, AMDP, ODATA services and RAP programming
- Knowledge of Fiori and UI5 development

Location and Hours
Location: Severn Trent Centre Head Office, Coventry. Work hours: 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You will typically be in the office, but work‑from‑home is supported when needed.
