Controls / Software Engineer – Chassis (Bicester)
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Systems Development / Control Systems Engineer with a specialization in the Vehicle Motion Domain.
Area of Responsibility
Working as a member of the SW Squad, the successful individual will have tasks assigned / prioritised by the System Product Owner.
- Extensive background in defining, designing, and delivering vehicle motion control features, including damping control, ride height management, traction control, all wheel drive systems, torque vectoring, rear wheel steering, ABS, yaw rate control, and electronic differential control.
- Skilled in producing clear, precise software requirements that fully comply with system specifications, legislative standards, and functional safety (FuSa) obligations.
- Responsible for decomposing, deriving and allocating software level requirements.
- Responsible for creation of appropriate Simulink Models to deliver the defined software requirements for the Motion Controller.
- Responsible for test case authoring and conducting unit testing (inc. MIL/SIL / GitLab).
- Responsible for software quality artefact creation and review.
- Support creation of appropriate FuSa documentation.
- Proficient in model based code generation using MathWorks tools, including Embedded Coder and the AUTOSAR toolbox.
- Experienced in linking software requirements within model based environments using MathWorks solutions such as Simulink Requirements.
- Skilled in model based software unit testing with tools like Simulink Test.
- Experienced in software code analysis using tools such as Polyspace.
Knowledge / Experience
- Experience in Systems Engineering and requirements capture and analysis.
- Experience in Control Engineering – Theory and Application on complex mechatronic systems in the Motion Domain.
- Significant experience with Matlab / Simulink and Mathworks toolchain.
- Experience using TargetLink and Embedded Coder.
- Experience with automotive CAN bus protocols and tools (CANOpen, J1939, ISO14229, ISO14230).
- Experience with IBM DOORS, Jama or similar is essential.
- Experience with dSPACE Scalexio and toolchain such as ControlDesk and Automation Desk.
- Experience in Vehicle dynamics theory and application.
- Awareness of functional safety (ISO 26262 – Part 3) and cyber security (ISO21434).
- Experience in 8D and fishbone root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge with automotive diagnostic tools (e.g., Corvus).
- System validation experience both rig and vehicle based.
- Working experience on project management tools such as JIRA.
- Industry recognised driver permit (e.g., JLR’s 2 PG / 3PG / 2OR).
